Terms and conditions of charity teams
1. The captain of a charity team must work for that charity.
Other team members do not have to work for the charity.
2. The team captain will be Crusaid’s point of contact
for all communications relating to that team.
3. If a team captain leaves that charity, another team
captain must be appointed and it is the charity team’s
responsibility to inform Crusaid of the change of contact.
Crusaid will not take responsibility for communications
and/or deadlines being missed due to our not being informed
of the change of contact.
4. The charity whose name the team is set up in will receive
75% of the total money that team raises in sponsorship through
taking part in Crusaid’s Walk for Life (excluding
Gift Aid). For example:
Charity X
3 team members – A, B, and C
A raises £50
B raises £30
C raises £20
| Total raised by Charity X = £100 |
This will go to Crusaid in the first instance |
| Gift Aid that can be claimed on this £100 =
£28 |
This will be claimed by Crusaid |
| 75% of fundraising total before Gift Aid = £75 |
This will be returned to Charity X |
| 25% of fundraising total before Gift Aid = £25 |
This will be retained by Crusaid |
| Gift Aid claimed on fundraising total = £28 |
This will be retained by Crusaid |
Final figure received by Charity X = £75
Final figure retained by Crusaid = £25 + £28
= £53
To find out more about Gift Aid generally, please see the
FAQs section of this website
5. Teams cannot be created and members cannot be added
to existing teams after the Crusaid Walk for Life has taken
place on 1st June 2008.
6. People who register for the Crusaid Walk for Life on
the day of the walk itself (1st June), at the event village,
will be asked if they are walking as part of a team. The
£10 on the day registration fee that they pay will
not count towards their team’s fundraising total.
Any money that they raise after the walk will be processed
along with the rest of the team’s sponsorship money.
7. Please note that this is a Crusaid event and as such
Crusaid is the only charity permitted to collect money on
the day of the event. Other charities are not permitted
to collect money either at the event village or during the
walk.
8. Charity teams can only fundraise for charities that
work, partly or wholly, in the field of HIV and AIDS, in
the UK or internationally. Contact Crusaid if you are not
sure if your charity meets this requirement.
9. If a team is set up in a charity’s name but does
not meet the requirement outlined in point 8 above, that
team will be classified as a standard team – not a
charity team – and all the money it raises will be
retained by Crusaid.
10. Following the Crusaid Walk for Life on 1st June 2008,
teams have until 1st September 2008 to send Crusaid all
sponsorship money collected offline. Online fundraising
pages will close on 1st September 2008. Charity teams are
welcome to send in sponsorship money after 1st September
2008, but this will not count towards their fundraising
total and Crusaid will retain 100% of this money.
11. All money raised by charity teams will go to Crusaid
in the first instance. 75% of the amount raised (before
Gift Aid is added) will be returned to the charity after
sponsorship totals have been calculated. All Gift Aid will
be retained by Crusaid.
12. Crusaid will contact charity team leaders by 15th June
2008 to confirm team members. Team leaders will have until
22nd June 2008 to raise any queries in relation to this,
otherwise the list of team members generated by Crusaid
will be treated as final.
13. Crusaid will contact charity team leaders by 22nd September
2008 to confirm their charity team’s fundraising total.
Team leaders will have until 1st October 2008 to raise any
queries in relation to this, otherwise the fundraising total
generated by Crusaid will be treated as final.
14. Charity teams can expect to receive 75% of their fundraising
total (before Gift Aid) during October 2008. Crusaid will
send a cheque for this amount, made out in the charity’s
name and posted to the team leader, unless advised otherwise.
15. Charity teams should not bring any sponsorship money
with them on the day of the walk. Please send any money
raised offline to Crusaid by post following the walk.
16. Any PR and marketing activities that a charity team
takes part in, in relation to Crusaid’s Walk for Life,
must mention ‘the Crusaid Walk for Life’ or
