Fundraising Tips
Our approach to fundraising is the same as our approach
to attendance – the more the merrier! 2,300 people
joined us for Crusaid’s Walk for Life last year, raising
a fantastic £375,000. We want to go further this year,
raising more money and offering help and hope to even more
people.
Every single contribution is hugely appreciated, and we’d
be really grateful if you could support our work by raising
as much as possible. To help you on your way, here are a
few tips:
-
It sometimes helps to set yourself a target. The average
raised last year was £140, so maybe aim for that.
It’s entirely up to you though, and you might
want to go for one of our top prizes.
-
Try to do most of your fundraising online. It’s
easier for you and your sponsors, and it’s cheaper
for us. So send your link to everyone you know, encourage
them to do the same, and you’ll be nationwide
before you know it!
-
Maybe form a team with your colleagues. You never
know, if they’re feeling generous your employer
might match the money you raise.
-
A couple of weeks before the walk, email everyone
with an update of your current total. They might want
to help you with one last push.
-
Take every opportunity to remind people just how important
Crusaid’s Walk for Life is, and just how much
of a difference it’ll make to the lives of people
affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and Africa.
-
Make sure your most generous sponsors are at the top
of your form. Let them set an example for others.
-
Why not become a team leader and get your friends
and family involved?
-
Always keep a paper copy of your fundraising form
with you. You never know when you might bump into a
generous (or drunk) millionaire.
-
And don’t forget – if you don’t
ask, you’ll never get. It’s an old saying,
but it’s true.
