Fundraising Tips
Our approach to fundraising is the same as our approach
to attendance – the more the merrier! Over 2300 people
joined us for Crusaid’s Walk for Life last year, raising
a fantastic £325,000 but as this year is our 21st
Birthday we want to go that extra mile and raise even more
money to help us continue our vital work.
Every single contribution is hugely appreciated, and we’d
be really grateful if you could support our work by going
that extra mile and raising as much as possible. To help
you on your way, here are a few tips:
-
It sometimes helps to set yourself a target. The average
raised last year was around £150, so maybe aim
for that. It’s entirely up to you though, and
you might want to set your target so you can win one
of our special fundraising prizes.
-
Try to do most of your fundraising online. It’s
easier for you and your sponsors, and it’s cheaper
for us, which means we can direct more money to our
vital work. So email your link to everyone you know
and encourage them to do the same, you’ll be nationwide
before you know it!
-
Become a team leader and form a team with your colleagues,
friends or family. It’s fun to fundraise in a
team and if they’re feeling generous your employer
might even match the money you raise.
-
A couple of weeks before the walk, email everyone
with an update of your current total. Ask them to help
you with one last push before the big day.
-
Take every opportunity to remind people just how important
Crusaid’s Walk for Life is, and just how much
of a difference it’ll make to the lives of people
affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and internationally
living in poverty. If you want some stats just visit
the Crusaid
website
-
Make sure your most generous sponsors are at the top
of your form. Let them set an example for others.
-
Always keep a paper copy of your fundraising form
with you. You never know when you might bump into a
generous (or drunk) millionaire.
-
Don’t forget – if you don’t ask,
you’ll never get. It’s an old saying, but
it’s true. You’re raising life changing
money for an incredible cause – so don’t
be shy!
